When his disabled mother dies, a bitter musician returns to the Missouri town he fled and collides with the father, friends, and dead soldier brother he left behind, forcing him to decide whether grief will remain his excuse for never making music — or coming home — again.

Missouri in the key of a bar band that never got out. The fights are about a house, a setlist, and a name nobody will say out loud, and they are conducted almost entirely through insults, because that is the only dialect anybody here speaks fluently.
