Before LCD Soundsystem became the coolest band in the room, James Murphy spent years convinced the room had already moved on without him.
A narrative music-film project about creative lateness, envy, insecurity, death, taste, and the humiliating gap between knowing what is good and making something of your own.
The story lives in New York around 1999–2002: the early DFA world, The Rapture, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the downtown scene before and after 9/11, and the long period when James Murphy was close enough to the culture to measure himself against it but had not yet found the voice that would make him part of it.
The destination is not fame. The destination is the moment insecurity becomes material.
